GRANT
WRITING - 1995-1997
Colorado Historical Society - $26,5000 award for restoration of
the original Colorado Springs Airport Terminal (1942) on the Peterson
Air Force Base in Colorado Springs. The terminal building now
serves as the Peterson Air and Space Museum. This project is part
of a fund raising campaign developed in cooperation with the Peterson
Air and Space Museum Foundation. September, 1997
Challenge Grant for Technology in Education -United States Department
of Education - Worked with a Middle School Teacher Committee to
develop a five year project for effective application of internet
technology based on the "Keepers of the Water" curriculum.
Participants included: Challenger Middle School, Academy School
District Twenty, The Discovery Partnership, and The Colorado Springs
Utilities Water Resources Department. Reviewed grant materials,
wrote letters of support, developed budget guidelines.
Grant submitted June, 1996.
Corporation for Public Broadcasting - K-12 Internet Testbed Proposal-
$28,500 award for internet server to promote arts education in
the Colorado Springs area. Brought together a consortium including:
KTSC Public Television, The Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration,
The Pikes Peak Library District, MCI and Colorado Springs School
District 11 to participate in the project and to provide in-kind
assistance. One of 15 grants awarded in the United States. June,
1996
Colorado Historical Society - $100,000 award for repair and restoration
of the Cliff House Hotel Building in Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Worked with the Historical Society of Manitou Springs, The Colorado
Architecture Partnership and the Real Estate Developer to define
grant objectives, develop meaningful budgets and project time
lines. September, 1996
COVision Recognition Grant in the Folk Arts Category - $5000 award.
Wrote grant for the Sankofa African Dance Company, including a
presentation package with photographs, video tapes and brochures

EDUCATIONAL
PRODUCTS / WRITING EXPERIENCE:
Co-author of Rocky Mountain
Rustic: Historic Buildings of the Rocky Mountain National Park
Area. The book is a full color collection of contemporary
and historic photographs illustrating premier examples of Rocky
Mountain Rustic Architecture from the 1870s through the 1930s.
It highlights the unique architectural traditions of the Rocky
Mountain region and tells the story behind each structure.
Designed and wrote "Keepers of the Water" for the
Colorado Springs Water Resources Department. This curriculum
guide for Middle School teachers presents problem solving, interdisciplinary
activities concerning Colorado Springs water collection and
distribution system. Many of the activities use the Internet
for data collection, access to real-time weather information,
issues discussions.
Designed and wrote "Journey of the Keepers" an online
virtual tour of the Colorado Springs water system for Middle
School students. Currently developing "The Adventures of
Dakota Sandstone" for the Colorado Springs Utilities Gas
Department . "The Adventures" challenge students to
use natural gas information in a variety of creative writing
and story telling projects.
Researched and produced "The Wonders of the Dunes",
an interactive, multimedia computer kiosk for the National Parks
Service. This program is installed at the Visitor Center of
the Great Sand Dunes National Monument to provide information
on the geology, history, and current activities at the Monument.
Designed and wrote the educational materials for "The Beauty
and the Beast" drama production. These materials were provided
for teachers and parents of children who attended the performance
as part of the Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration in Colorado
Springs.
Developed and co-authored "Blueprint for the Future",
a poster based curriculum to introduce architecture concepts
to Middle and High School students. The poster becomes a three
dimensional sculpture, while the curriculum guide outlines interdisciplinary
activities based on the poster information.
